Five things Sam found in Elizabeth's desk and what she did with them

She found a deck of cards and learned that Elizabeth had loved to play poker. Sam figures coming to Atlantis is enough of a gamble. She plays Solitaire.

She found a rosary and looked up Elizabeth’s file. No, Elizabeth Weir was not a Catholic. Neither is Sam. She uses the rosary the way she figures Elizabeth did. She prays.

She found a bag of jellybeans. She ate them, naturally. Well, sure, she could put them out on her desk in a dish of some kind… but Elizabeth didn’t. Sam decides to go with precedent.

She found a romance novel and contributed it to the base library. After Pete, Sam’s done with romance. But she wonders, a little, about Elizabeth.

She found a picture of Jack O’Neill, much more current than the one she’d brought with her from Earth. He’s signed it: Generally speaking, yours, J. O’Neill. She leaves it where it is until she can decide what to do with it, and wonders a little more about Elizabeth.

I loved what little we saw of Jack and Elizabeth (or imaginary!Jack and nanite-infested!Elizabeth. *g*). And however you look at canon, one thing is an absolute given. Somebody's got the hots for Jack. He's too adorable!

Clearly, they need a better librarian to make book selections for Atlantis ... unless, of course, Elizabeth was a closet romance-reader!

Maybe she'd just already read everything else available?

Or she could have liked them. *g*

Interesting list! And I somehow can see Elizabeth reading romance novels as a distinct contrast to the dangerous world that is the Pegasus Galaxy.

Good point! Whether she enjoyed them (or had time to read them) on Earth or not, they might serve a purpose for her on Atlantis.

Ah, Elizabeth. I like your look into her Atlantis life.

Re: your comment upthread about *someone* finding Jack hot and adorable. Yes, well ... *g*

Very cool slice of life on Atlantis for Elizabeth and Sam.

One slight correction, lo these many months later... Canon has Sam's dog tags reflecting "RC" for Roman Catholic. She might not be practicing, but that's her designation.
