All of the SG-1 and S3 SGA episodes have now broadcast on Sci Fi, but it would still be a courtesy to include a subject-line warning for spoilers of any back-half S10/S3 episodes, especially the season finales. Thanks!

If you're posting a response after the unveiling announcement on August 20, please copy the link to your comment, click on the 'set 25' tag, and reply to the post 'Set 25 Unscreened' with the link to your new comment-response. That helps people find and read and comment on responses that weren't there when they cruised through right after the reveal. :-)

SG-1's five favorite foods.

For Sam, it’s coconut cream pie. You’d think it was blue Jell-o, but no. She forces herself to take the blue Jell-o, because it’s healthier and a lot more figure-friendly. But when she’s in the mood to indulge, or craves comfort, or is sublimating sexual desires – it’s coconut cream pie. Sometimes a whole one.

Teal’c is deeply in love with lobster. It took him a while to try it; years in fact. He thought the creature was hideous in the extreme and could not possibly taste good. He was so very wrong. He now deeply regrets all the past opportunities that he shunned. Now he is planning a trip to Maine. If he ever gets to go, he will eat lobster at every meal.

Vala likes cheeseburgers. Home-grilled, greasy fast food, thick juicy restaurant ones. Doesn’t matter. Vala likes them all, even the flat, too well-done ones in the mess hall. She likes trying different cheeses, combinations of cheese, onions raw, onions grilled, hold the tomato. She’s had elk, kangaroo, buffalo. Ketchup, mustard, mayo. It was like When Harry Met Sally the first time Sam introduced her to Miracle Whip.

Cam gets rib cravings, and drags them all out with him to his favorite rib joint in the Springs. There’s blues on the weekend, a good selection of beer, and some damn fine coleslaw. The ribs are just short of falling off the bone, so it’s easy on the knife-and-fork crowd (Sam and Daniel), and the others can pick them up and dive in and cover their faces with sauce and love every messy second.

Daniel doesn’t get to have his favorite food much any more. He misses charred steaks still red in the center, accompanied by a big bowl of potato chips for a vegetable and washed down with crappy beer. He misses dessert, too. Especially when there was chocolate sauce involved.

SG1's 5 Favorite Foods

5. Blue Jell-O. None of them had ever given it a second thought (or fifth, or tenth, for that matter) before it just started showing up in the commissary one week. No one dared touch it when it did. But being naturally prone to experimentation (and rather fond of that particular shade of blue) Sam was the first to give it a go. All in the name of science. Sinking down in her chair with the sundae cup full of the jiggly blue stuff, Sam took a bite of it and chewed -- well, chewed as much as anyone chews Jell-O, anyway, then looked up to 3 pairs of eyes watching her like they she'd just swallowed a glob of raw Naqahdah.

"Relax," she told them, her mouth full. "It's good."

"What's it taste like?" Daniel asked, a cross between curious and horrified.

Sam shrugged, took another bite. "It tastes...blue." Because everyone knows that Jell-O doesn't come in flavors.

Not a week later, she was already tired of sharing her blue Jell-O with the rest of the team. SG1 might share a a lot of things, but time alone with one's Jell-O was personal. That month, the commissary suggestion box had four suggestions in it -- four more than they'd ever had any previous month. All of them said the same thing: "More blue Jell-O."

The commissary got the hint. There was never a shortage again.

There's always room for Jell-O at the SGC.

4. Coffee. While coffee isn't "food," per se, it is an SGC dietary staple. Even Teal'c enjoys a cup and says it's because he enjoys the flavor, rather than for any adrenaline buzz it provides him as it does for humans. "Riiiiight," thinks Jack, since he can't get a word in edgewise over Teal'c's and Daniel's constant chatter after cups four and six, respectively. But Jack's only up to cup number 2 for the day, himself, and he knows better than to attempt any banter before the caffeine has worked it's way through his bloodstream. He wanders off to find Sam in her lab and bug her instead -- she's much quieter by comparison even after her daily dose of java, especially when she has her nose stuck to a microscope, -- but not after stopping to top off for cup number 3 for himself.

Coffee. The official beverage of the SGC.

3. O'Mally's Grilled Guinness Ribeye. SG1 had been going to O'Mally's so long, none of them could remember when it was they first started going. Thing is, the service is average, the atmosphere is trite, and the clientele is far from desirable, but for Jack, it's all about the ribeye. It's steak, it's beer, AND it's Irish. What's not to love? Alternately, Daniel couldn't agree more and always lets Jack take home what he can't finish from his own plate...as long as he can come over later for leftovers. Just to watch.

O'Mally's. Official sponsor of the SGC...even if they don't know it.

2. Favorite off-world cuisine: anything not moving on a plate. When you attend enough off-world dinner parties, as guests of honor, you learn to tolerate some pretty exotic shit. 'Nuff said.

Off-world, all that wiggles is NOT Jell-O...even if it is blue.

1. Pizza. After a tough day of 'gating, exploring, getting shot at, running your ass off, falling into booby traps, devolving, fighting robotic bugs, battling Goa'uld, almost dying, actually dying, ascending, descending, getting promoted, and all the accompanying paperwork of said activities, sometimes the only thing you want is something simple. Jack will even put up with Daniel's preference for fruity shit like pineapple on pizza now and then. Sam's idea of meat on pizza is grilled chicken, while Teal'c likes anchovies. But if it's baked dough with some kind of sauce on it covered in some kind of cheese, whether it's deep dish, or cracker-thin, they all agree, that's pizza and that's good enough. And if it's pizza, chances are it's delivered, and that means nobody has to cook. Just be sure to order enough to have some for later.

Pizza. It's what's for dinner at the SGC. And lunch. And breakfast.

Just don't forget the coffee.
