1. You can kill Ba'al but he'll keep coming back because of the clones. Lots of chances to make the son of a bitch suffer. Lots of ways to make him pay. Hathor and Apophis died too soon.
2. Ba'al has a sense of humor. He's still a bastard but at least he's an entertaining bastard.
3. Ba'al has style. Jack knows he shouldn't admire that, but too many Bond movies have instilled the idea that villains are supposed to have style. Ba'al's also very smart and cunning. If you're going to have an arch enemy who keeps on escaping, at least he should reflect well on you.
4. Ba'al didn't use rape as a form of torture. The poison, the knives, yes, they were bad. Not rape. Jack wishes he didn't feel a shred of gratitude for that but he does. He's not sure he could have dealt with being raped; he's not sure he could go through that a second time and not stay broken.
5. Ba'al didn't snake him. Jack still wakes up, sweating and yelling, sometimes crying, after nightmares where he's being snaked. No matter how many times he has the nightmare, he can't tell if it's Hathor sticking a goa'uld in him or the Tok'ra that makes him piss his bedsheets.
